I am writing to express my strong support for Resolution 4601: Equal Pay for Equal Work to be approved and adopted by the City Commission. I commend the City of Bozeman for being on the record as committed to narrowing the gender wage gap within the City. Unfortunately, the data show that much work remains. Today, women employees in the State of Montana are statistically expected to earn less than 70 cents on the dollar in comparison to men for the same job. Personally, it is unconscionable that in our generation the root causes and damaging byproducts of gender wage disparity continue unabated. I encourage the Commission to support this resolution, to promote gender equality in our fair City, and to adopt careful and stringent and proactive internal policies to ensure that Bozeman's hardworking women employees, and women employees contracted to work on behalf of the City, receive equal pay for equal work. The benefits are to working women and the community at large, strengthening Montana working families and providing more earning potential and opportunities for the citizens of Bozeman. Thank you for your service. Sincerely, 04"-, ?/-- Rep. Chris Pope House District 65 — North Bozeman
