Message: Dear Mayor Krauss and Commissioners, I am very concerned about theapparent lack of serious design review regarding the intention to demolish an olderhome -with no apparent serious structural problems at 1201 South Grand Ave inorder to build a new residence, which from all images shown to the public resemblesan undistinguished suburban barracks. This utilitarian warehouse design has nosympathetic visual or functional elements like porches or windows that allow anengagement with the street or encourage the spirit of community, whichcharacterizes much of south Bozeman. Many of us cherish this historic small towncharacter. Now is the time of unprecedented growth to enforce stricter compliancefrom owners and builders in design review and not weaken the protection the builtenvironment in Bozeman with its rare devotion to historic and compatiblecontemporary hybrids that respect the past not obliterate it.
