AN EMERGENCY ORDINANCE REGULAmING THE USE OF VEHICLES UPON
THE PUBLIC STRE~TS OF THE CITY OF BOZElli~ll, PROVIDING PENALTIES
FOR THE VIOLATION OF THIS ORDIRAlWE AND REPEALING ORDINAUCE

BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUHCIL OF THE
CITY OF BOZE1MN, MONTANA:
Seotion 1.
No person shall hereafter operate or drive or permit

to be operated or driven any vehicle of any oharacter over, upon or
across any street or part thereof in the City of Bozeman at a rate of
speed greater than twenty (20) miles per hour, nor on or across any part
of Main Street in the Oity of Bozeman at a rate of speed greater than
fifteen (l5) mil~s per hour.
Section 2.
When turning a corner at 'any street intersection in

the City of Bozeman, or while passing any stationary street car, no
person shall operate or drive or permit to be operated',or driven any
vehicle of any character at a rate of speed greater than ten '(lO) miles
per hour; no person shall turn any motor"l,vehicle upon Main ~)treet within
the City of Bozeman at any point thereon except at street corners.

Section 3.
Ho person shall hereafter operate or drive any
vehiole of any character upon or across any sidewalk or parking in the

City of Bozeman, except at regalar driveways, nor upon or across any
platform about any passenger depo~ in the Oity of Bozeman.
Seotion 4.
Any person violating any of the provisions of this
Ordinance shall, upon conviction thereof, be punished by a fine of Ten
Dollars ($lO.OO) for the first offense, and by a fine of not lese than
Twenty-five Dollars ($25.00) nor more than One Hundred Dollars ($lOO.OO)
for each subsequent offense, or shall be punished by imprisonment in the
City jail for a period not exceeding Thirty (30) days, or by both such
fine end imprisonment.

Seotion 5.
That Ordinance No. 476 of the C:tty of Bozeman,

entitled, "An Ordinance amending Section Six of Ordinanoe No. 445 of
the City of Bozeman entitled, "An Ordinance Regulating Travel and traffio
upon the public streets of the City of Bozeman," and providing penalties
for the violation of this Ordinance", be, 'and the same is hereby re-
pealed.

Section 6.
Whereas, it is immediately necessary, for the preeer-
vation of the sEcfety of the, citizens of Bozeman, that regulations be pro-
vided governing the rate of speed of vehicles within the limits of said
City, therefore an emergency is hereby deolared to exist, and this Or-
dinance is hereby declared to be an Emergenoy Ordinance, and said
Ordinance shall take effect immediately upon the passage and approval
thereof.

County and state, on the 19th day of July, A.D., 19l7, and approved by
the Mayo+; that true and correct copies of said Ordinance No. 477 were
posted, one each in the following named places:
City Hall, Ellis Brandley & Co., Old Courier Building, Bon Ton Bakery,
and Courier Building Bulletin Boards, and that the same remained posted
for the time required by law for such publication.
