PROCLAMATION
Peace Officer Memorial Day and Police Week
WHEREAS, every day, peace officers face the threat of violence and danger. They
routinely put their lives on the line to defend ours, and the price of that bravery
may result in injury, disability, or death; and
WHEREAS, these men and women sustain peace and order in Bozeman,
throughout the state of Montana and across America, and we look to them as
models of courage and integrity; and
WHEREAS, we rely on law enforcement officers to keep our neighborhoods safe,
enforce our laws, and respond in times of crisis; and
WHEREAS, by a joint resolution approved on October 1, 1962, the President has
been authorized and requested to designate May 15 of each year as "Peace Officers
Memorial Day" and the week in which it falls as "Police Week."
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that I, Jeff Krauss, Mayor of the City of
Bozeman, do hereby proclaim May 15th as
Peace Officer's Memorial Day
and May 10th through May 16th as Police Week
We take this day and week to honor their extraordinary service and sacrifice and
we remember the fallen heroes whose selfless acts have left behind safer streets
and stronger communities.
IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I hereto set my
hand and cause the Great Seal of the City to
be affixed this 11th day of May 2015.
