BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF PROJECT AND RELEVANCE TO THIS CONTRACT (Include scope, size, and cost) TD&H Engineering provided geotechnical and structural engineering services to Bogart Park parking lot and stream improvements. We conducted a study to analyze the existing pavilion footings for structural and geotechnical stability in conjunction with the Bozeman Creek realignment. We analyzed the stability of the existing pavilion footings as they pertained to creek realignment and delivered a report. Using preliminary design concepts, we graded and generated construction documents for the meandering creek and floodplains. The City of Bozeman and the Downtown Bozeman Partnership also sought to improve water quality in Bozeman Creek. TD&H Engineering provided a Preliminary Engineering Report (PER), in accordance with TSEP Application Guidelines, to address stormwater quality and quantity problems in downtown Bozeman, from the parking lots adjacent to Bozeman Creek. Three targeting lots included the parking lot in Bogert Park, the parking lot at the corner of South Rouse Avenue and East Babcock Street, and the parking lot at City Hall, on Lamme and North Rouse Avenue (east of Bozeman Creek). Alternatives to mitigate the environmental hazards of untreated stormwater on the creek and public beneficial uses were evaluated. Alternatives included several technologies, from basic detention ponds to filtration systems. TD&H Engineering recommended utilizing three various technologies in the three different parking lots, as a way to gather more data about the effectiveness of each system in this climate. Each of these technologies holds promise for future application in the Bozeman area. By using all three technologies, the City could sample untreated and treated stormwater from each, and compare the effectiveness in the Bozeman climate, under very similar conditions. This pilot project provided much needed data to the City, empowering them to establish design criteria for future applications. Professional Services: $18,200 25. Babcock, Suite 3 Bozeman, MT 59715 RE: Letter of Recommendation To Whom It May Concern, The Downtown Bozeman Partnership has been working with TD&H Engineering since 2006 on engineering of streetscape improvements in historic downtown Bozeman. In that capacity, I have observed TD&H work productively with the City of Bozeman, the Montana Department of Transportation, numerous construction contractors and dozens of private property owners. Following the March 5, 2009 downtown explosion and fire, TD&H prepared construction documents and provided inspection services to complete the installation of new streetscapes and alley as part of our recovery efforts. I recently contracted TD&H to design the next phase of our downtown streetscape project involving over 50 property owners and in excess of 6000 linear feet of new sidewalk plus the corresponding amenities. As part of this project, TD&H will be taking the technical lead in forming a new Special Improvement Lighting District to ensure downtown’s streetlamps are properly maintained in the future. TD&H has been responsive to the needs of these projects which are complex and entail being nimble to address unanticipated issues inherent with historic and urban project areas. TD&H is well respected with our City Engineering Department which proves invaluable as we coordinate our downtown projects. I anticipate working with TD&H in the future on various downtown projects as their style, expertise and institutional knowledge brings tremendous value to our efforts to keep downtown an attractive and vibrant commercial district. Workload is dynamic and constantly changing as projects are completed and others started. Our project managers and management staff identify and address any critical issues that will affect project schedules and if necessary, we make arrangements to utilize resources from other offices. This allows us to accept or decline new work depending on whether adequate resources are available to meet client schedules and expectations. With any design schedule, miscalculation of staffing requirements could jeopardize the design team’s ability to meet the needs and requirements of the client, which leads to budgetary issues. Our solution is to provide the City of Bozeman with a team of professionals who are committed to completing a project that not only meets the needs and requirements of the project, but exceeds them, in a timely manner. TD&H Engineering has available staff and resources and can unequivocally commit the necessary resources to make the City of Bozeman a top priority.
