Message: I am writing with regard to the proposed Villas Growth Policy Amendmentnear the East Gallatin Recreation area. The views expressed here are my own. Ithink it would be best to not change the Parks, Recreation and Open LandsClassification in the City Growth Policy. The area of proposed land-use change isdown flow from the old Bozeman City Landfill. The 2015 RTI report and theHydrometrics reports show ground-water contamination. Hydrometrics 2015 showsthat soil air has numerous VOC’s. The EPA regional screening levels for residentialambient air are exceeded for benzene, trimetylbenzene and xylenes. We do notknow what the ambient air in homes might be. I further note that the PlanningBoard voted strongly to leave the designation as is. Because the nearby East GallatinRecreation Area and Glen Lake Park are heavily used by the public, I think thatmaintaining the planned designation is best for both City and County residents.
