Amend 1 Materials Testing Commission Memorandum REPORT TO: Honorable Mayor and City Commission FROM: Bob Murray, Project Engineer Rick Hixson, City Engineer SUBJECT: 2014 Materials Testing Project - Amendment No. 1 MEETING DATE: April 27th, 2015 AGENDA ITEM TYPE: Consent RECOMMENDATION: Approve and authorize City Manager to sign Amendment No 1 to the Professional Services Agreement. BACKGROUND: Attached is a copy of the partially executed Amendment No. 1 with Morrison Maierle, Inc. for the 2014 Materials Testing Project. In order to have better control over the testing portion of our capital improvement projects, the City entered into a term contract with Morrison Maierle to complete the testing on all City projects in 2014. Because of the expense and time commitment for both the City and the consultants in preparing proposals, it was decided to extend the current contract through this construction season. The current list of projects these services are anticipated to be utilized on is the Water Renovations Project, CTEP Project, Story Street Reconstruction Project, Street Improvements Project, and the Curb Replacement Project. This fall/winter we will issue a new request for proposals for the 2016-17 construction seasons. UNRESOLVED ISSUES: None ALTERNATIVES: As suggested by the City Commission FISCAL EFFECTS: As was detailed in Exhibit A of the original Professional Services Agreement, the services will be billed on a unit price/hourly basis depending on the testing being performed with a not to exceed limit of $50,000. The costs will be broken down and reimbursed from each individual project and as such spread over the Water, Sewer, and Street enterprise funds.
