Meeting Minutes
March 26, 2015
Opening
The regular meeting of the Bozeman Climate Partners Working Group was called to order at
2:03 PM on March 26, 2015 in the Gallatin Room, City Hall by Natalie Meyer.

• Workbook will launch in May nationally
• 1600 worldwide communities, 165 in US
• Clean energy options discussion: Arcadia Power, Pear Energy, Big Sky gas
• Transition Streets pilot project (Bozeman and Missoula selected)
o 7 meetings (not necessarily in order):
1. Intro
2. Energy
3. Waste
4. Transportation
5. Food
6. Water
7. Party!
o 2 week spacing to implement goals between meetings (usually 1 low or no cost)
• Purpose to get the word out, provide options, support, and networking
• Ideally the project exists on the neighborhood level, but it’s flexible
Action items:
o Transition Streets to sit in on relevant committees (COB facilitates?)
o Transition Streets to give presentations to neighborhood groups (COB facilitates?)
o Pilot program with the working group
o Transition Streets to provide blurb for newsletter (Heather)
Business
Bozeman Energy Project – 70/80 in attendance @ Green Drinks
• 3 businesses currently in retrofit
WattzOn Energy Center (sustainability incentivizing website)
• Demo site up
• Launch scheduled for end of April
• Highly personalized to area & community
• Monthly prizes, & big year-end end prize
o Q: Prize structure? Feedback:
Can only win 1 monthly, but more than 1 monthly contribution to final
prize
Only 1 final prize, instead of a few
McKinstry Energy Performance Project
• Replacing with LEDs in parking garage and adding sensor
• Retrofit streetlights metered and owned by the city – total of 192
o Working with MDOT for design
o Have to go with higher output version to meet standards
Increase in costs and less savings
• NorthWestern Energy will not be giving rebates for LED replacement
• Currently interviewing two firms to help set COB LED standards for businesses
Sustainable Energy Workshop – co-hosted with NWE and DOE
• Content on solar opportunities, public policy, and barriers to progress
• June 3rd in Library Community Room
• Intention to identify next steps
Action items:
o Put Transition Streets in “Guides” on WattzOn, or at least “Resources” (COB)
o Suggest resources to Natalie/Heather to include on WattzOn
o Reminder to take Extension energy survey
o Discussion to have LED information point to the display at Owenhouse, or create a COB
display, or have one at the library (COB)
• Work with MSU Extension to make this happen
o Reminder that 4th Thursday of the month is the Sustainability Series
o Encourage breweries to make competitive growler prices to discourage bottle purchases
o Consider inviting legislators to NWE workshop (COB)
