As a Bozeman resident and member of the Bozeman Historic Preservation Advisory
Board, I would like it duly noted that the homeowner act of demolishing his home in violation of city code should carry the maximum penalty. The blatant
disregard for the character of our historic districts is disrespectful to the
community and sets a dangerous precedent. A historic home is part of our shared story of how Bozeman was built, once it is gone it can never be replicated and no one individual has the right to just wipe the slate. Other people have seen this
action and may consider it as a viable means to accomplish their own desires,
which is why we should take action, every action to ensure this is not repeated. In addition, consider Community Service Hours as a stiff deterrent; perhaps in
the area of Historic Preservation or perhaps hours spent at the waste water
treatment facility for the area. Thank you!
