Re: Bridger Center, LLC Request
Dear Mayor Krauss, Deputy Mayor Carson and City Commissioners,
The Trust for Public land (TPL) respectfully submits this letter regarding the request by
Bridger Center, LLC., which the Commission will consider at its March 2nd meeting. We urge
the City Commission to strongly consider the concerns of the Boylan Homeowner’s
Association including potential impacts to existing trails and park resources.
In particular, decisions regarding future development at the site should set a priority on
wetlands and river resource protection. As you are aware, upstream at the site of the
future Story Mill Community Park, The Trust for Public Land and community partners have
undertaken a significant restoration project to improve wetland function and restore river
connectivity to the historic floodplain along both the East Gallatin River and Bozeman
Creek. It is important that we take every opportunity to create a ‘pearl necklace’ of
protection along our urban streams protecting sensitive riparian areas. As Bozeman
continues to grow, these areas will help mitigate impacts from stormwater discharge and
provide natural buffers to protect and enhance water quality of our urban streams.
Thank you for your thoughtful consideration of these issues and your strict adherence to a
high public benefit standard.
Sincerely,
Maddy Pope
Project Manager
