HomeMy WebLinkAbout02-24-15 Eisen Eminent Domain Public CommentFrom: Hilary Eisen To: Agenda Subject: public comment on eminent domain request Date: Tuesday, February 24, 2015 11:37:33 AM To Whom it May Concern, It has recently come to my attention that Bridger Center, LLC has requested that the City approve an eminent domain request across an area that local residents value for open space and trails in order to facilitate the development of condos in what is now a wetland. Wetlands provide a number of essential ecosystem services that are expensive, if not impossible, to replicate and I don't believe the City should be facilitating their destruction. This area, adjacent to the East Gallatin Recreation Area, is best left undeveloped. The trail system leading to and around the East Gallatin Recreation Area constitutes one of the few places within Bozeman, especially on the North Side, where you can easily access a large and relatively undeveloped swath of river, woods, and wetland without having to get in a car and drive. I used to live on North Black and would walk, bike, or run from my house to this trail system several times a week. Even now, although I live further away, it remains one of my favorite after-work destinations. Thank you for considering my comments. Hilary Eisen 417 S 14th St. Bozeman, MT 59715
