HomeMy WebLinkAbout02-18-15 Benson Murphy Eminent DomainDear City Commissioners:
We have been recently informed of Mr. Tom Murphy's efforts to seek easement to his property -
adjacent to Bridger creek subdivision - through the heavy handed approach of eminent domain.
The proposed subdivision puts undue pressure on BCSCA designated open space while failing to
contribute any significant new open land. As members of the BCSCA, we ask the
commissioners to vote against Mr. Murphy's request.
We do encourage the city to consider incorporating this property into the City park system. This
would be a wonderful addition to existing city plans for expansion of the trail system to the M &
Drinking Horse trails and the planned Story Mill Park. The purchase of the undeveloped
property, owned by Bridger Center, presents a fine opportunity to permanently expand this open
space in a fragile wet lands.
Generous open spaces, and the trails to get into and enjoy those places, are one of the unique
draws of the Bozeman area. As rapid growth continues to place pressure on existing open land
in our beautiful city, let's take advantage of options to preserve small but valuable open land.
Please vote no on eminent domain and yes to open land.
Thank you for your time and attention to our concerns.
Respectfully,
Christina Bauer
