Application for City of Bozeman
Trails, Open Space and Parks Bond Funding
The East Gallatin Extension Project encompasses roughly 6.49 acres of pastureland and road easement directly
north of the East Gallatin Recreational Area. The land is currently listed for $600K. The budget for the project reflects the asking price of the property. The project currently has
contribution commitments totaling just over $400,000. We are seeking an additional $200K in TOP funding to meet the asking price.
The East Gallatin Extension Project stands to benefit
and enhance all of the criteria listed in this section.
Open Space/ Natural Areas: Project stands to add 6.49 acres of open space to the city park system.
Parks: Project will directly
add to the existing Park (East Gallatin Recreational Area – EGRA)
Trails: The project will provide scenic corridor for existing easement and potential for trail and easement enhancement
and expansion.
Water Quality: This project will serve to contribute to the water quality of the upper East Gallatin watershed by providing critical protection of existing wetland and
a critical tributary of the river.
Multi-use Recreational Fields: This project has vast potential for multi-use and/or recreational purposes.
The legal description of the project
area is:
S31, T01 S, R06 E, C.O.S. 157, REMAINING TRACT GLR-1 SW4 6.472AC
This project will create lasting value for the residents of Bozeman by permanently protecting the easement
corridor to the existing EGRA, which is
under private ownership and zoned for industrial use in Gallatin County. The property also has potential for numerous improvements including; water-features, additional trails, and multi-use
space that will enhance the adjacent parkland.
