Message: 2/9/2015 Dear Commissioners: To help with affordable housing the first
step is for loosening up on the restrictions for lenders. Individuals who can afford the
median sales price for homes in Bozeman cannot easily get loans, these federal
restrictions need to be reevaluated so that median home buyers can obtain loans to
purchase a home; to put it plainly qualified individuals simply cannot qualify for
loans. The restriction on lots for developers requiring to be allocated to affordable
housing has not worked in the past, why try a policy that failed? The commission
needs to look at a reduction in fees, and work on working with local developers for
ideas to help with affordable housing in Bozeman, don’t force a restriction that has
