MEMBERS PRESENT: Cliff Chisholm, John DeHaas, Walt Willett, Paul Gleye, Mara- Gai Katz (alt.) STAFF PRESENT: Associate Planner/Urban Designer Dean Patterson, Associate Planner/GIS Specialist Jody Olsen, Historic Preservation Officer Derek Strahn, Planning Director Andrew Epple, and Recording Secretary Carol Schott VISITORS PRESENT: Mark Iwaniak, Matt Appleby, Fred Ruffell, Dan Schmidt, Brian Gallik, Ben Lloyd, Joan Rudberg Chairperson Cliff Chisholm called the meeting to order. He introduced the first project. A. MODIFICATION TO AN APPROVED SITE PLAN 1. Bozeman Ford 1804 W. Babcock - A Review of a change in a Minor Site Plan from a one-story storage building to a two-story building. Planner Dean Patterson presented the project. Chairperson Chisholm inquired if there would be any rear lighting. Mr. Iwaniak replied there wouldn't be, there would be a light above the stairs on the end. Chairperson Chisholm inquired about the light style and brightness. Mr. Iwaniak stated it is proposed to be a standard, typical Iight used for security purposes. It will not be bright. Chairperson Chisholm was concerned with the light shining into residential bedrooms behind the storage shed. He inquired if the light will be shielded. He noted the design, style, and brightness of the light can be reviewed by Staff. Mr. Willett suggested a light be installed that casts light down but not outward. Mr. Iwaniak noted that was the type they had in mind, with reduced wattage. Chairperson Chisholm inquired if it will be an automatic light. Mr. DeHaas asked if it will be a standard light bulb. Mr Iwaniak answered yes to both questions. Mr. DeHaas had a concern that the plan submitted had no north arrow. He assumed the project was on the south side of Babcock. He wants the applicants to supply the drawing, not the Planner having to photocopy an existing plan from a former project. Mr. Willett stated the building meets what DRB discussed at the DRB meeting in which Bozeman Ford received approval of its Final Site Plan. Mr. DeHaas moved, Mr. Willett seconded, the modification to the approved site plan be approved based upon Staff recommendations and that the light be shielded. Motion carried unanimously by voice vote. 1
