Unfortunately with my busy schedule I cannot make it to thetown hall meetings where I would happily express my concerns over the new center.I did how ever, make it to the polls on November 4th to vote against this. I have lived in Bozeman for over 7 years and have seen my property taxes increaseconstantly. It seems that every new excuse to add an extra fee onto a propertytaxes is used and I am tired of the reckless spending on new items that seemfrivolous, useless and just plain wasteful. This new justice center is the pinnacle ofthis reckless spending on useless things that WE DON"T NEED. I can not count the number of times I've seen two or more patrol cars for a randomtraffic stop. Several times I've witnessed 4 cops per traffic stop. You areoverspending our tax dollars on turning Bozeman into a police state. You do notneed two patrol cars and four cops to stop someone for a burnt out tail light. Youare creating a huge rift between the police and the people. You are turning ourpolice department into an occupying army where their only enemy is the citizens ofthis city. A perfect example of this is how you allowed them to illegally obtain amilitary vehicle as a show of hostility toward us all. You are treating us, thepeople of the city of Bozeman, as insurgents! You allow them to drive tanks, youhire more police than necessary and now you want to spend millions on a newbuilding to house your over sized army? I am another constant voice in the city openly speaking against your attempts tospend more money to create a police state. Our safety depends entirely on usprotecting ourselves from you. The greatest threat to us all in Bozeman is not thepetty criminal who steals my sunglasses out of my car but its you, with how you arehiring more police officers than necessary to where you now have cops sittingaround bored with nothing to do but look for the smallest mistakes a person canmake to write a citation and you are also letting them turn into a small military! Maybe you should take some time to talk to the older people who lived here all oftheir lives. Ask them about what the cops were like then. The police were part of thecommunity. They weren't carrying assault rifles and driving tanks. This isn't Iraq itsBozeman MT! Downsize the bloated police department, sell of that unnecessarymilitary vehicle and use that money to purchase what you "need". Sincerely, Anthony Sciolino502 Dove CtBozeman MT 59718406-599-0539
