Members Present: Kelsey Matson, Pat Jacobs, Steve Keuch, Lora Dalton, Lisa Verwys, Merri Ketterer, Mark Hufstetler,
Courtney Kramer (staff liaison)Members Absent: Bryce Ledbetter, Matt Kennedy, Michelle Morgan
Call to order- meeting was called to order at 6:36 pm
Approval of prior minutes- Minutes
from June 19, 2014 were unanimously approved as presented
Public comment- none
Disclosure of ex parte communication
MH- redevelopment plan for cannery presented to Design Review Board.
Cannery is not located in city limits. Windows & siding will be replaced.
Introduction of invited guests- none
Committee reports
LV- Bozeman Heritage Consortium recently formed by area
organizations (primarily Extreme History Project, Museum of the Rockies, and Gallatin History Museum), therefore BHPAB will cease planning a similar group and instead participate in
the Consortium. Next meeting is Tuesday, Sept. 23, 4:30 pm at the Computer History Museum. CK- Consortium is working on a shared google calendar for area organizations to list their
events.
SK is interested in creating a way to disseminate information/education to neighborhood associations as form of outreach.

Community outreach- board should be considering
ways to increase outreach and education
Staff liaison report
City commission July 14 recap- city decided to define historic as any property in city limits that is listed as historic
or contributing or would be potentially eligible for listing. Affirmative maintenance- directed attorney’s office to revise municipal code regarding 2 year stay of demolition and other
stipulations/language for enforcement. Directed staff to begin surveys of historic properties.
Fall 2014 intern- intern will begin doing reconnaissance updates to historic property survey,
with priority focusing on buildings from 1945-1970
Depot project- MRL will begin putting a new roof on depot in mid-September. Roof is intended to be long term. MRL is committed to working
with community group.
SAT Grant- streetlight project continues to move forward. Masons consulting about rehabbing building. Money will be returned if Mason project does not work.
Website- new website for historic preservation is being built/hosted by city. Responsibility for updating will move to CK (thanks to MH for all his work on previous website). Timeline-
draft version for review by mid-September, live by first of the year.
430 S. Tracy- Demolition permit was denied and will be appealed. Received application for demolition of 401 S. Willson.
East Willson school- Redevelopment was approved. Plan is for construction of 18 condos. Historic American Buildings Survey documentation required.
Etc.- For those interested, upcoming
Montana History Conference in Helena mid-September, Montana Preservation Alliance Conference on Preservation & Stewardship of Historic Places at Old Faithful at end of September. Montana
History Conference will be in Bozeman in 2015, CK is working on getting a major preservation speaker for Wednesday night. BHPAB should think about what it would like to see/do for Wednesday
session/Wednesday evening.
