Director’s Report
October 28, 2014
STREAMLINE: The good news is that nine of our Streamline buses are up and running. The bad news is that 504 may be dead due to a turbo
issue. It is at Kamp for further evaluation, but it may become our new parts bus. 614 is also at Kamp for wiring issues. 605, 607 and 612 are all being administered to by Harlow’s
for a variety of ailments.
Just when we think that construction season must be coming to a close, someone comes along with a new plan to make us scramble the routes again. Work will
begin on College on Monday the 27th and continue off and on until Christmas. We will do the best we can with keeping all of our customers apprised of any detours and schedule changes
that need to be made.
We held a meeting with the attendants and drivers for late night a couple of weeks ago. It was very informative and I think created a positive bond between members
of the late night team. We are also scheduling a de-escalation training for the near future when we can all get together and work through issues that may arise on the Streamline or
Galavan buses.
We have had a preliminary meeting to spec out the new transit style buses we are looking at. I have asked Adam at MDT to supply us with an options list and will also
take an afternoon to go to Butte to talk with drivers, mechanics and supervisors to get some good feedback now that they have had the buses in use for a few months.
I just an email
from David Kack about the meeting he had with our funding partners at MSU. It looks like both MSU and ASMSU are looking to continue their contributions to the Streamline system. This
is great news! Maybe Marianne can fill all of you on the meeting.
GALAVAN: Galavan added 17 new customers in September and gave a total of 2,090 rides in 21 days of service to our
334 active riders.
The good news I was waiting for at the Fall MDT Training was not exactly what I hoped for but there may be light at the end of the tunnel. We should receive a
new Galavan in late January or early February. This will be a very welcome addition to our fleet. We are not in dire straits right now with tires being the big issue as we ready for
the snow.
A special thank you to Suzanne for all of her hard work in making Galavan and Streamline the successes they are today. She has had an amazing impact on transportation in
and around Bozeman. Thank You!
