Ms. Strizich,
At the regular meeting to the Bozeman Area Transportation Coordinating Committee on October
22, 2014,the membership voted unanimously to select as the next urban priority the
reconstiuction of approximately 1.1 miles of Kagy Blvd. from So. 19th Ave. to So. Willson Ave.
Please take the necessary steps to program and develop this project with the goal of bidding the
project as soon as practical. The 2007 Update to the Greater Bozeman Area Transportation Plan
identifies the project as Recommended Major Street Network Project MSN-2;
Kazy Boulevard (S. 19th Avenue to Willson Avenue)
This project consists of widening Kagy Boulevard from the intersection with S. 19th
Avenue to the intersection of Willson Avenue to a three-lane urban arterial. This includes
one travel lane in each direction, bike lanes on each side, curb and gutter, boulevard,
sidewalks, and a raised median. This project serves as a long-term need that will be
necessary to accommodate future development patterns in the city. Currently, this section
of Kagy Boulevard is a two-lane roadway with few left-turn bays.
Estimated Cost: $4,700,000
MDT and city staffs believe that an updated estimate would be $5,500,000; however, the City of
Bozeman has stated that they would contribute at least$3,000,000 in local impact fee monies to
the project.
Thank you for your consideration and continued involvement in Bozeman area transportation
issues.
Sincerely,
Robert V. Lashaway, Chair
Bozeman Area Transportat Coordinating Committee
