Reference: Bearcat Incident Response Vehicle 2013
To whom it may concern:
On behalf of the Montana State University Police Department, I would offer this letter as a statement of
full support and request for funding for the Homeland Security Grant Program application submitted by
the Bozeman Police Department for the purchase of a Bearcat Incident Response Vehicle.
This equipment would support the City/County SRT Team and enhance the safety of all law enforcement
officers and our entire community by reducing response times and enabling responding officers to safely
contain and approach a hostile and volatile situation. This equipment would truly benefit all law
enforcement agencies and communities within Gallatin and surrounding counties. The City/County SRT
Team is relied upon to provide quick response to high risk incidents and has proven time and time again
that the team and departments are well trained, dedicated and ready to respond where needed.
It is unfortunate that the changing climate of the world and increasing acts of violence necessitate
equipment like this Bearcat Incident Response Vehicle be available to protect our staff and communities
but we believe that this equipment will enhance our response capabilities; act as a deterrent to acts of
violence and will increase the safety in this corner of our State.
Without the requested grant funding, we would not be able to procure this equipment.
Respectfull ,
