Brit Fontenot spoke regarding the progress of the Broadband Steering Committee which will be meeting
again soon. Do we have enough broadband available that the small business can afford. Getting feedback from the business industry. Supporting high tech small to medium companies at a
price they can afford. What are some options?
Working on infill as an economic development strategy – efficiencies, affect on land values, internally we have a team that is working
on this infill issue. Is there anyone interested in getting involved in this discussion on the economic development side? Policy Discussion tentatively set for end of September. Getting
groups of stakeholders on August 27th and 29th to help develop this.
Tracy Menuez – commercial or housing?
Mr. Fontenot said the broader discussion covers both with a broader discussion.
Tracy
Menuez volunteered to be involved with that discussion as would Cheryl Ridgely and Erik Garberg.
What areas do we need to target?
Brit Fontenot provided the example: Idaho Pole – ready
for development except for significant infrastructure?
Stuart Leidner, and Jeff Krauss would all be interested in being on the Hiring Committee for the Economic Development specialist.
Jeff Krauss spoke regarding the infill discussion saying there are disincentives to infill. How do we discuss theories regarding what we want and what the public feels they can build.
The discussion could go all the way to the far end of annexed properties to how we redo Main Street west of 7th and North 7th. Could also include reducing curb cuts. This is a pretty
big issue. How do we get residential into these areas? What disincentives will we eliminate to encourage infill. Parking issues are part of the discussion including the discussion on
North Seventh.
Address stormwater?
