June 17, 2009
Dear Property Owner:
This letter and the attached notice inform you that on Monday, June 15, 2009, the Bozeman City Commission adopted Resolution 4172 – a Resolution
of Intent stating the Commission’s intent to create the Bozeman Tourism Business Improvement District (Bozeman TBID).
The adoption of the above named resolution is done to inform you
and other affected property owners that should the Commission adopt a final resolution creating the Bozeman TBID that, upon final adoption of a City ordinance implementing the Bozeman
TBID, the City of Bozeman will begin assessing your property a tax in the amount of $1.00 for every occupied room night. This assessment will be placed on the tax roll and will be collected
in the same manner as other taxes.
This letter and the attached notice also inform you that pursuant to Montana law (Sections 7-12-1113 and 7-12-1114, MCA), beginning Monday, June
22, 2009 and continuing until 5:00 pm on Monday, July 6, 2009, you may file a written protest to the creation of the Bozeman TBID to the Bozeman City Clerk. Please see the attached notice
for instructions on filing the written protest.
Please note that at the Commission’s regularly scheduled meeting at 6:00 pm, July 6, 2009, the Commission will hear and pass upon all
submitted protests and, if the protest thresholds listed in Sect. 7-12-1114(3), MCA, are not met, the Commission will consider and decide upon a final resolution to create the Bozeman
TBID.
For more information on the process of creation of the Bozeman TBID, to view a copy of the Resolution of Intent, or to inquire as how to submit a protest, please contact me at
582-2321.
Sincerely,
