HomeMy WebLinkAboutNotice of Passage of Resolution of Intent TBID June 16 09/ NOTICE OF ADOPTION OF A RESOLUTION OF INTENT TO CREATE A TOURISM BUSINESS IMPROVEMENT DISTRICT, DECISION ON PROTESTS, AND PUBLIC HEARING ON FINAL RESOLUTION OF ADOPTION Notice is hereby given that the City Commission for the City of Bozeman, Montana, at its regular meeting held on June 15, 2009, adopted a Resolution of Intent to create a Tourism Business Improvement District, proposed to be known as the Bozeman Tourism Business Improvement District (the “District”). Copies of the adopted Resolution of Intent, a map showing the limits of the proposed District, and a list of all properties potentially subject to the proposed District, are on file in the office of the Bozeman City Clerk, 121 N. Rouse Ave., Bozeman, MT. If created, the general purpose of the District will be to provide funding for tourism promotion, including but not limited to: marketing at convention and trade shows that benefit local tourism and lodging business in Bozeman; marketing Bozeman to the travel industry in order to benefit local tourism and lodging businesses; and recruiting major sporting events in order to promote tourism and to benefit the lodging businesses within the proposed District. The funding will come in the form of assessments of one dollar ($1.00) per occupied room night on every lodging facility that has 10 or more rooms within the municipal limits of the City of Bozeman. Any owner of property liable to be assessed may make written protest against the extent or creation of the district to be assessed, or both. All protests must be filed in writing and received by the City Clerk no later than 5:00 p.m. Monday, July 6, 2009. Postmarks are not acceptable. Protests may be sent via regular mail to: Bozeman City Clerk, PO Box 1230, Bozeman, MT 59771-1230. Protests may be faxed to the City Clerk at: 406-582-2344. Protests may be emailed to the City Clerk at: agenda@bozeman.net. The Clerk must receive the signed protest form by the deadline. All protests must be notarized and, if the person signing is signing as a representative of a business or other entity, that person must indicate their authority on the protest form. The City Commission will hear and decide upon any protests to creating the District at a PUBLIC HEARING to be held at 6:00 p.m. on Monday, July 6, 2009, in the Commission Room at the Bozeman City Hall, 121 N. Rouse Ave., Bozeman, Montana. The City Commission may not create the District if owners of more than 50% of the taxable value, 50% of the total District assessments, or 50% of the owners of property within the proposed District submit written protests to creating the District by the deadline specified above.
