Commission Memorandum
REPORT TO: Honorable Mayor and City Commission
FROM: Brian Krueger, Development Review Manager
Wendy Thomas, Director of Community Development SUBJECT: Continue the public hearing on application P14037, Norton East Ranch
Major Subdivision Phase 3 from September 15, 2014 to September 22,
2014.
MEETING DATE: September 15, 2014
AGENDA ITEM TYPE: Action
RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommends that the Commission continue the public hearing to September 22, 2014. RECOMMENDED MOTION: I hereby continue the public hearing on application P14037,
Norton East Ranch Major Subdivision Phase 3, from September 15, 2014 to September 22, 2014.
BACKGROUND:
The City is reviewing the Norton East Ranch Major Subdivision Phase 3, Preliminary Plat
application. The application is for the subdivision of approximately 119.90 acres into 104
single-household residential, 6 townhouse residential, 2 restricted development lots, and the remaining area as streets, common open space, and parkland generally located west of Laurel Parkway and south of West Babcock Street.
The Planning Board held a public hearing and considered this request at their September 2, 2014
meeting. The City received a request from an adjacent property owner to consider an alternative
date for the public hearing before the City Commission as they would be unavailable to attend the meeting on September 15, 2014. The City contacted the applicant and they agreed in good faith to continue the public hearing until September 22, 1014 so that the property owner could
attend and provide public comment to the Commission.
UNRESOLVED ISSUES: None. ALTERNATIVES: The City Commission has the following alternative actions available:
1. Set an alternate date for the public hearing.
FISCAL EFFECTS: None identified at this time.

Hello,
We received a call from Connie Lien, the property owner due west of this project
requesting that the City change that date of the Commission public hearing on
September 15, as they will not be able to attend. Would you be amenable to
changing the hearing to the 22nd so that they could attend? You are not required
to do so by code, but it would be a courtesy to the public. Thanks.
