Park Master Plan Modifications
PLANNER: Dave Skelton
FROM: Recreation and Parks Advisory
Board
SUBJECT: Meadow Creek Subdivision – Park Master Plan Modification
REVIEWED ON: 12/19/2008
COMMENTS:
The Recreation and Parks Advisory Board has been asked to review modifications
to the Meadow Creek Park Master Plan as a condition of an extension to their preliminary plat approval. It is necessary to modify the plan so that it represents the actual conditions
that exist.
The addition of storm water detention ponds that were not in the original plan still leaves the project with sufficient parkland to satisfy their dedication requirement of
roughly 20 acres. Developer has agreed to decrease the slope of the detention ponds’ banks.
A previously planned trail that cut across the playing field area in Lerner Park has been
removed from the plan and has not been developed. This gives the active recreation area more flexibility in potential field layouts and we consider the loss of trail to have no measurable
effect on bike/ped traffic connections.
Trees and shrubs in Lerner Park that were in the original plan have been moved to the park periphery to expand the active play area. We think
this is a better design than the original.
We have agreed to revisit ditch in the north end of Lerner Park in the spring to see if it is suitable, or if some modification would be desirable.
RECOMMEN
DATION:
It is our opinion that the changes to the Park Master Plan will in the end provide an improvement to the active recreation opportunities in the development. We feel that this
condition of approval has been satisfactorily met.
