Spring is here. Crew are busy charging irrigation systems
(and fixing the broken lines), mowing, garbage, dog stations,
etc.
A couple projects of note: The Friends of Bogert Park
graciously repaired the restrooms under the pavilion at
Bogert- (everyone needs to go check these out. THEY WENT
ABOVE AND BEYOND) - and- we used some Park
Improvement Grant general money to install new dugout roofs
at Christie Park.
The Bogert tennis court project is moving right along, with the
trees trimmed and the chain-link fence installed. Next week
will be set aside for court prep and then the tile install in two
or three weeks.
Seasonal employees started May 10, with more trickling in
throughout the month. Currently, the division is budgeted for
only 14 seasonal employees. This number is slightly lower
than in years past.
Spring sports are well under way with baseball, soccer, adult
and girls softball, BMX and Farmer’s Market starting their
respective “seasons”
I met with Brit Fontenot and BAHA in regards to a plan for the
hockey boards next year- basically, we have agreed to store
them, install them and maintain them in exchange for BAHA
letting us “use” them.
Looking forward to working with the community on the new
Park Improvement Grant projects and buttoning up the old
ones.
