Meeting Minutes Approval
A motion was made and seconded
to approve the June 14th, 2006 meeting minutes as written. The motion passed unanimously.
Announcements: Liz reported the following items to the Board:
Liz was contacted by H-CAM
Engineering of Helena (6/23/06). They were touching base about the MDT Rouse Project. Liz’s name was given to them by Tracy Oulman as the “contact” for Tree Board. Liz will convey
any project updates/messages to full Board as things progress. There was nothing to report at present.
*The board members were comfortable with this arrangement.
Beautification
Board and Tree Board joint meeting in November 2006.
Liz reported to the full Board that the Beautification and Tree Advisory Boards wanted to have a joint meeting in November, and
our options are to hold the meeting on the 2nd or 3rd Wednesday in November at noon or 5:15 pm.
*Tree Board members decided to accommodate the Beautification Board and meet at their
scheduled time: Wednesday, November 15 at 5:15 pm. Liz will convey this decision to Terry Quatrarro (chair). Liz was asked to send them recent meeting minutes to give them an idea
of items of interest to our board. It was also decided that at our October Tree Board meeting we will decide on several items to discuss with the Beautification Board in November.
Tree
Brochure—progress Gene?
Gene Keith brought in a prototype of his edited brochure to the meeting for review by the other Board members. A discussion took place with the Board members
giving him ideas of what might be good additions to the brochure. Some of the ideas discussed included:
1. Expand a little on the benefits of diversity; i.e., different growth rates
for sustainability. Trees don’t mature or die off at the same time. Examples of monocultures and problems with disease: Great Falls, Billings, etc.
2. Shelly wants to come back to
the next meeting with more comments for the brochure.
3. Maybe add a section on “your tax dollars at work.” Use photos of Bozeman before and after tree planting; where would you rather live?
The Bozeman Historical Museum has lots of old
photos on file.
4. Question posed to Ryon: Can we include this brochure with the City water bills? The Board feels that it is important that it gets to people living in the new subdivisions.
*It was decided that each Board member would take Gene’s template home and come up with further comments. Members could share their ideas with Gene between now and the next meeting
or they could bring their comments to the August meeting.
