Please see theattached map. Recently, Story Mill Road was paved next to this segment of missing trail. The newramp from the trail onto Story Mill Road, where noted on the map, is soft, narrow & dangerous, anddoes not meet ADA standards for steepness or width. Previously, when the road was gravel using StoryMill Road to get from one section of the trail system to the other was a pain. Now that Story Mill Roadis paved, encouraging increased traffic & increased speeds, trail users forced onto Story Mill Roadbetween the existing trail sections will simply be in danger, their safety at risk. The insufficient ramp from the trail onto Story Mill Road will have to be improved considerably to meetADA standards. Why aren't we putting our money into installing the missing trail segment? There wasplenty of money to pave the road it appears, so there must be enough money to install a sidewalk a/k/atrail next to the newly paved road, to provide for pedestrian and cycle traffic away from the flow ofvehicular traffic. I left a phone message about this at the City Commission phone number, but my call was not returned. I have also contacted the city engineers office. This e-mail will be more specific anyway. My wife is disabled and frequently uses this trail with her tricycle. Sufficient ramps between the trailand road crossings are critical to her safe use of the trail system. Installing the missing trail, instead offorcing her, and other trail users, to cross into and out of vehicle traffic, just makes sense. Can we getit done this year? Please let me know.
