Message: Dear Commissioners, I am not able to attend the Monday meeting withregard to the Riverside sewer issue. My wife and I are home owners in the Riversideneighborhood. I'm writing to show our support for the proposed 10 year annexationplan. I submit that Riverside is a long established subdivision, and not one of the newrental developments that cater to a transient population that are cropping up aroundedges of town. Instead, Riverside is populated by long term, community mindedcitizens who have contributed(and continue to contribute)greatly to the economy, and success of Bozeman City. We will need time to adjust to being "physicallyabsorbed" into the City, and to recover from the upfront costs of plumbing into theBozeman Sewer Plant. It looks like a win-win from the start. The residents ofRiverside will be paying the connection costs, and Bozeman City will enjoy receivingmoney for sewage processing immediately. Plus, it's better for our environment andwater quality, which is why we need to do this in the first place. The important thingto me is--proper sewage treatment--not town expansion. But since we are locatedacross the road and a little North from the Bozeman Sewer Plant ("oh, did somebodysay it's a SW wind?").It only makes sense to connect to that plant. So,I'm hopingthat, perhaps a 10 year transition period to becoming a "town neighborhood"wouldn't be too much to ask.
