HomeMy WebLinkAboutRiverside Annexation Public Comment from Harry Murphy 8-13-14From:harry murphy To:Agenda Subject:riverside annexation Date:Wednesday, August 13, 2014 2:41:56 PM My name is Harry Murphy, 48 Riverside Drive, Bozeman. As a resident of the Riverside subdivision for over 25 years I would like to express to you our enjoyment of the rural atmosphere that is part of the Riverside development. I am interested in preserving this rural feel after annexation to the City of Bozeman and one of the ways I feel we can preserve this county subdivision feel is by having the City agree as part of the Annexation agreement to not require now or in the future sidewalks, curb or gutter be installed in the subdivision. Riverside lots are small to begin with and the loss of front yard space caused by adding sidewalks would reduce green area and change the feel of the subdivision from more rural to more urban. My wife and I raised our two children here and allowing them to play in the park, our front and back yard and our friends and neighbors yards was a great part of their childhood and our memories. In my opinion sidewalks, curb and gutter will change the look of the subdivision and the feel of the open play area our children enjoyed. While I would rather see a 10 year deferment to annexation I do not have major objections to the 5 year plan, I do have strong feelings regarding the sidewalk, curb and gutter issue and strongly urge the City Council to added the requested wording to the annexation agreement. We do not need any more" hardscape" in the subdivision, preserving the grass and landscape areas verses concrete walks will help reduce run-off, reduce pollution and help keep the surrounding area cooler in the summer. Thank you for your consideration of my request. Harry Murphy Harry A. Murphy, III Broker Commercial Real Estate Service CAM-GMBH Partnership 406-580-7115
