SUBJECT: Reappointment to the Bozeman Tourism Business Improvement
District (BTBID) Board of Trustees MEETING DATE: August 4, 2014

RECOMMENDED MOTION: I move to reappoint Thomas Stenzel to the Bozeman Tourism Business Improvement District Board of Trustees.
BACKGROUND: The Bozeman Tourism Business Improvement District Board of Trustees has
one term which expired July 31st, 2014. The member with an expired term has reapplied. No new
applications have been received. In August, 2009 the City Commission created the BTBID Board to manage the newly created
District (Cht. 2.90, BMC). The mission of the Board is to promote tourism that generates room
nights for lodging facilities in the city of Bozeman by effectively marketing the region as a
preferred travel destination. BTBID members are appointed to four year terms. Board appointees must either be a property owner within the District or the duly authorized designee of an owner of property within the District.
The Bozeman Tourism Business Improvement District Board of Trustees currently has one
expired term and one reapplying applicant. Reapplying Applicant: Thomas Stenzel

Bozeman and a hotelier for over 30 years and am a current board member of the TBID. With this
background, I've seen and experienced the favorable impact tourism has and will continue to
have on our community. With these qualifications I think my position on the Bozeman TBID is relevant to managing the tax dollars in ways that will positively influence the growth of
Bozeman. I am active as a leader in educational organizations such as Toastmasters and teach
public presentation skills and leadership classes as MSU.
