SUBJECT: Reappointment to the South Bozeman Technology District Board

RECOMMENDED MOTION: I move to confirm the Mayoral reappointment of Steve Johnson
to the South Bozeman Technology District Board.
BACKGROUND: One term on the South Bozeman Technology District Board expires July 31st, 2014. The member has reapplied for another term.
The South Bozeman Technology District Board was established with Resolution No. 4439 to
assist in the administration and implementation of the South Bozeman Technology District. The
District was created with Ordinance 1844 in December, 2012. Ordinance 1861 which went into affect July 3rd, provided guidance regarding powers, duties, membership, required reports and meetings for these types of boards.
According to the guidelines in Bozeman Municipal Code Chapter 2, Article 5, Division 10, the
board shall consist of five voting members with staggered initial appointments. After initial
terms all appointments shall be for four years. Any person may be appointed if they are residents of, property owners within, or gainfully employed by a business or firm located within the city. Appointments are made by the Mayor, by and with the advice and consent of the Commission.
Preference may be given to residents, business owners or employees, or property owners of the
district. A majority of members must reside or own real property within the city. The board shall
have all the powers provided pursuant to Title 7, Chapter 15 parts 42 and 43 of the Montana Code Annotated.
This board has one term expiring July 31st. The member is reapplying.
