Dear Mayor and Commissioners,
I don't understand why Bozeman residents are allowed to set off fireworks until midnight
on July 3 and July 5, and until 1:00 am on July 4.
Some of these fireworks sound like mortar rounds and cannon fire; they are very loud.
I think of the combat veterans suffering from PTSD who might be disturbed by these loud,
explosive sounds; about the sick and the elderly whose sleep may be disturbed; about the
people who need their sleep because they need to go to work the next day; about pets
who are traumatized by sounds that sound like bombs going off.
Many other cities do not allow fireworks within their city limits; and people have a lot of
fun on the 4th, including going to public venues with fireworks displays which typically end
about 10:00/10:30 pm.
I look forward to your responses to this issue.
Respectfully,
Bill Serdahely, Ph.D.
