Morrison-Maierle brings together the strength of knowledge of the City of Bozeman infrastructure system and specifications, and experience with local construction entities. Morrison-Maierle has done extensive material testing on both City of Bozeman and private construction projects in the past and will bring this experience to this contract. PROJECT MANAGEMENT AND STAFFING The Project Manager for the project will be James Nickelson, P.E., who has managed numerous projects for the City of Bozeman. Mr. Nickelson has managed the construction quality assurance on the Bozeman Water Reclamation Facility and the Bozeman Water Treatment Plant; in addition to many smaller projects in Bozeman. His knowledge of City of Bozeman policies and specifications has led to excellent project management of these projects. He has developed a very successful track record, which makes him the ideal candidate to manage this materials testing project. The Quality Assurance will be provided by Kevin Jacobsen, P.E. who has also managed several projects for the City of Bozeman. He has recently managed the construction of the North Ph Avenue Lighting Project and is familiar with City of Bozeman policies and specifications Mr. Jacobsen provides overall j za oversight to the Morrison-Maierle Bozeman testing facility. The Materials Testing and Analysis will be provided by Steve Malmberg, E.I., Senior Resident Project Representative. He has extensive testing experience in Bozeman and is very familiar with National, State, and City of Bozeman requirements and specifications. Mr. Malmberg served as lead materials technician on both the Bozeman Water Reclamation Facility and the Bozeman Water Treatment Plant construction projects. TESTING FACILITY The Testing Facility was constructed in the Morrison-Maierle building complex located at 2880 Technology Boulevard West in Bozeman. It is centrally located within 15-20 minutes from any site in Bozeman. The facility is equipped to perform the following tasks: Compaction Testing Morrison-Maierle has eight Troxler Nuclear Gauges for the testing of soil density, compaction, and moisture content. These gauges are also capable of testing asphalt density and compaction. Soil and Aggregate Testing and Analysis The Morrison-Maierle Testing Facility personnel are capable of determining soil classification, which includes soil strength, stability, settlement characteristics, permeability, and the swell and shrinking characteristics. This will determine the soil's proctor for the Troxler Nuclear Densometer testing. Morrison-Maierle's Bozeman-based engineer and technician personnel are also able to test soil material gradation, clay sample preparation, course aggregate preparation, Atterberg limits, hydrometer, organic content, specific gravity, and sampling. With aggregates materials, the engineer and technician personnel can perform sieve analysis on fine and course materials, determine specific gravity and absorption of the materials, and conduct LA Abrasion testing with offsite equipment. Concrete and Masonry Testing Morrison-Maierle's Testing Facility has nine ACI Field Testing Technicians (Grade 1)for testing concrete delivered to the construction site. This includes slump tests, unit weight, percent air entrainment, prepare concrete cylinders, store concrete cylinders in water curing tanks, and test (break) the cylinders to determine the concrete strength. The facility can store up to 280 four- inch or 200 six-inch cylinders in the temperature controlled water curing tanks. i r - r� y t ii•',� City of Bozeman 2014 Materials Testing Contract ��MORRISON Aid AWERLE,INC. The testing facility has a Forney F-250E-02 Compression Testing Machine for testing the concrete cylinders. The Forney is calibrated annually by Qal-Tek. The personnel will monitor the cure times and cap the cylinders for compression testing. Additionally they can prepare masonry prisms and grout prisms for compression testing. The engineer and technician personnel are trained in the proper placement of concrete and can assist the project owner in evaluating and inspecting the contractor's work. The Morrison-Maierle testing facility works with the Montana State University College of Engineering to share the testing facilities and allow engineering students training on the different materials testing requirements. Bituminous (Asphalt) Testing The testing facility is equipped to test bituminous materials, including in-place compaction, Marshall Density, maximum specific gravity and voids analysis, thickness and density of cores and the rice specific gravity.
