Commission Memorandum
REPORT TO: Honorable Mayor and City Commission
FROM: Ron Dingman, Park and Recreation Director
Chris Kukulski, City Manager
SUBJECT: Park Reservation Fee Increase – Resolution 4085
MEETING DATE: December 17, 2007
BACKGROUND: Park reservations are available to the public for a variety of uses. The City
Parks Division has a reservation system which includes fees for the reservation itself, based on
number of people, a fee for an alcohol waiver if requested, and a fee for an assembly permit if
the group is larger than 75 people. In 2005 there were 340 Park reservations ($13,825), in 2006
we experienced 411 reservations ($18,400) and in 2007 there were 506 ($22,115), which
illustrates a significant increase in use.
The request for fee increase is only for the Park reservation itself. The last time the City
Commission approved a fee increase was in 2000 and so there is a substantial increase
recommended. Fees collected for reservations are intended to cover the costs associated with the
review and processing as well as staff time spent assisting groups with their functions.
RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommends that the commission adopt Resolution 4085 to
increases fees for Park reservations.
FISCAL EFFECTS: Increased revenue from Park reservations would recover more costs
associated with Park reservations.

ALTERNATIVES: As suggested by the City Commission.
Respectfully submitted,
