COMMISSION RESOLUTION NO.
535
A RESOLUTION PROVIDING FOR A POST-WAR PLANNING BOARD FOR THE CITY OF BOZEMAN
AND PRESCRIBING ITS DUTIES.
WHEREAS: The President of the United
States has urged upon national state and local
governments the necessity for planning now for the inauguration and operation of public
works to provide employment of demobilized soldiers and war-workers when the present
war shall be ended and such soldiers and workers return to their homes looking for em-

ployment and the means of honorable livlihood until normal social and economic condi-
tions shall be res tored in such local comnmni ties and in the na ti'm as a whole;
and
WfIEREAS : The City Commission of The City
of Bozeman is in full accord with such
purpose and deems it wise and prudent that such plans be made for this City so that they
may be placed in immediate operation as the necessities may appear at the conclusion of
the present war and the returnm peace conditions.
NOW, THEREFORE,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF BOZEMAN:
Section 1. That the Mayor be, and he is
hereby authorized and requested to appoint
wi th the approval of the Connnission, a board or committee consisting of
nine citizens
and taxpayers of The City of Bozeman, of which the City Manager shall be
one, which com-

mittee shall be known as The Bozeman Post-War Planning Board,
the members of which shall
serve without monetary compensation.
Section 2. It shall be the duty of said
Board to investigate all matters of post-
war economic policy and problems as they affect, or may affect,
local conditions; to
gather plans and suggestions from informed sources with respect to such problems and to
study plans and suggestions so received; to report to the City Commission
from time to I
time the results of findings made and conclusions reached,
together with recommendations
made 9.nd conclusions reached, together with recommendations for the inauguration
and
carrying on of necessary or desirable local public works and themeans and methods of
financing the same; it being the sense and purpose of this Resolution to make access-
ible and available to the Ci t,- Commission,
through said Planning Board, complete and
helpful information respecting needed public improvements within The City of Bozeman,
suitable and approved plans therefor, the CO!1t thereofand the methods of
financing the
same where the cost thereof will exceed the resources of the normal revenuesaF the City,
and such other useful and helpful informs tion as will enable the City Commis sian to con-
tribute through official action and to fornIlllate solutions and put them into effect as
far as possible promptly at the end of the war, as an aid to the establishment
and main-
tenance of normal: and beneficial buslnessand social conditions within the City.
See tion 3. This Resolution shall be in
force and effect from and after thirty (30)
days after its adoption.
