Capital Improvement plan (CIP) GF#194
ozeman city park entrance signs should not only reflect Bozeman, but should provide more than signage. A sign is a singular entity that
serves as a way-finding device; it is enjoyable when the aesthetics of the sign are attractive and create a sense of identity. However, a singular
sign for all of Bozeman's parks is a noble goal, but ultimately falls short of transcending any moral compass that the community endears.
Therefore, the signage should serve a dual purpose: an attractive way-finding device (or"marker")and as a recreational bench. Community
parks could symbolically be drawn as a bench; a recreational recess from exercise in the park, or for a parent to monitor children's play.
I chose a modern bench design that can serve as a bench, but is interesting enough to firstly act as signage. This bench will be nearly mainte-
nance free and sturdy enough to endear childrens' climbing.
The materials for the "marker" are created from Bozeman's industrial aesthetic. Being employed within the architectural field has given me
additional knowledge of the vast materiality employed throughout Bozeman. These materials are blended within the"marker" and employ a
rustic sentiment; however a splash of pungent green brightens the "marker" and creates a sense of whimsy acting as a idyllic marker through-
out town.
Ultimately, this design will be an attractive sign/marker/symbol/bench and cherished by the community.
