A RESOLU'frON OF THE COMMISSION \)F THE CITY OF '30 ZEMAN , MJNTANA IN
MEMORIAM TO J. HARRY HEALY
WHER '!:AS , I. Harry Healy, a duly elected,
qualified and acting City Commissioner
I of the City of Bozeman,
M:ntana died on September 7, 19.5~.; and
WHEREAS,
the members of the City Commission of the City of Bozeman, Montana
desire to express their appreciation of his long and valued pl1blic service to the
City of Bozeman and this community
and to express their regret at his de9rth by the
presentation of this memorial;
and
WHEREAS, J. Harry Healy was born March 29,
1886 in the State of Michigan and
came to Gallatin County in
the year 1910. He first served the public of this cormmmity
as a Deputy County Clerk and
Recorder and as Deputy Treasurer of Gallatin County;
and
WHEREAS, he was absent from Bozeman for a number of years, but returned to this
comrmmi ty in 1932 and was
firs t elected to the City Commiss lon of the Ci ty of Bozeman
in January 1944.
He was appointed Mayor of the City of Bozeman in April 1945 to fill
the vacancy cre~~ed by the
absence of H. B. Landoe and served continuously in that
capacity until January 1948.
He conttnued as a member of the City Commission until
January 1952.
He was re-elected to the Commission in 1953, too~ office in January,
1954 and was serving in the
capacit" of City Commissioner at the time of his death;

WHEREAS,J. Harry
Healy's long participation in the municipal affairs of this
City and of the State
of Montana was in the highest tradItion of public service.
Though throughout his career
as Mayor and Commissioner of this City, he was actively
and busily engaged in private
business and many civic endeavors, he was never too busy
to devote his time and energy
to the affairs of his City and its Deople. Always
interested in anything that
might better Bozeman as a place in which to work and live,
he brought to the councils
of its municipal government a sound judgment based upon
long business experience, a
devotion to fairness and an integrity that will be sorely
missed.
He was particularly interested and effective in problems of municipal fiscal
management,
public water supply and fire and pd>lice organization to which matters
he gave this City and its citizens
the benefit of his discerning mind and thorough
understanding;
and
WHEW~AS, public servants with the integrity, unselfish interest and devotion to
duty of J. Harry Healy merit
the respect and gratitude of all the citizens of this
City.

OF BOZEMAN:
That this City is
a better community for his life and service and we hereby
express our qppreciation th9refor
and we express the sympathy of this body and of
all employees af the City of
Bozeman to his family and friends in their and our loss.

a properly certified copy of this resolution to Mrs. Healy.
Passed and adopted by the City Commission at its regular meeting held on the 15th
day of September,
