So glad you re still interested Submitting this info by Wed afternoon June 13 should be fine
The City is finally moving forward on appointing its climate protection committee Your name has been
submitted based on the interest you expressed in March to serve on this committee However the City s
new climate protection intern Hattie Baker who just graduated from MSU with a Master s of Public
Administration degree says it will help the City Commission with their appointment process if you could fill
out this form with information that s a bit more detailed than the city currently has on you Below is the
message she sent out to most of the people who volunteered She didn t have an e mail address for you
so Im following up By the way her message says the form is available on the City s web site but I
couldn t find a special form for this committee posted so Im just sending you the usual city form so you
don t have to hunt for it online You can just cut and paste it into a message to the city clerk which is the
agenda e mail address shown below

Subject Re MCPA Task Force
Hello Hattie
This is Piet Martens again On June 14th the day I took off for the East Coast 1 faxed
in my application for the MCPA Task Force and I emailed you and Marcia Youngman to
let you know I did
Yesterday I had my first batch of mail forwarded from MSU and to my great
disappointment I found my fax had been rej ected after several retries because the line had
been busy 406 582 1230 which I got from the City s website I am really peeved
because I realize I am probably too late now while I had really wanted to take part and I
believe I have something to contribute to the task force
If there is any way my application can still be considered here is the info the
application form asked for

I ve been involved with the Bozeman Citizens Concerned about Climate Change since we formed at the last
Bioneers Conference I helped present the goals of our group to the City Commission last winter when we
requested that the City of Bozeman pass the US Mayor s Climate Protection Agreement Throughout the past
year I have sought to educate myself about Climate Change issues through reading attending local meetings and
speaking engagements and watching documentaries Ihave recently published an article on Global Warming and
Food Choices see
httpW lY newwest netlLndex php city article diet for a warmin9J1lanet what to eat in tbe WakELoLclimate c
I am most interested in how we might individually and collectively alter our lifestyles so that our day to day
habits are no longer a threat to our health and the health of the planet Some small but important personal
changes Ihave made are bicycling and taking the bus to work carpooling more frequently starting a garden
reducing the use of electricity at home and buying organic and locally produced food I would like to see more
outward support for making these kind ofchanges and I know how difficult it is to give up some ofthe
conveniences of modem living that s why Id like to see the City take some leadership on the matter I
can offer my skills in public speaking professional storyteller and past presenter with the Montana Committee for
the Humanities Speakers Bureau writing and editing educating past instructor at HealthWorks Institute and
being involved in a variety of groups where my listening facilitation and organizational skills have come in handy
