HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution 981 Election for the question of Granting to Montana Power Company .1:$9 RESOLUTION NO. 981 A RESOLUTION PROVIDING FOR THE HOLDING OF AN ELECTION FOR THE PURPOSE OF SUBMITTING TO THE QUALIFIED RESIDENT FREEHOLDERS OF THE CITY OF BOZEMAN, MONTANA, THE QUESTION OF GRANTING TO I THE MONTANA POWER COMPANY, A CORPORATION, A FRANCHISE FOR THE TERM OF FIFTY (5U) YEARS AND THEREAFTER UNTIL AND UNLESS OTHER- WISE PROVIDED BY ORDINANCE, UNDER WHICH SAID COMPANY MAY CON- STRUCT, EQUIP, LAY, MAINTAIN AND OPERATE PIPE LINES AND APPUR- TENANCES IN, UNDER, UPON, OVER AND ACROSS STREETS, AVENUES, ALLEYS, HIGHWAYS, BRIDGES, EASEMENTS AND OTHER PUBLIC PLACES IN THE CITY OF BOZEMAN, MONTANA, AND MAY TRANSPORT, DISTRIBUTE AND SELL GAS. BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF BOZEMAN, MONTANA: Section 1. That an election be held in the City of Bozeman, Gallatin County, Montana, on the 6th day of December, 196U, between the hours of 8:0U A.M. and 8:00 P.M., of saiddate, for the purpose of submitting to the qualified resident freeholders of said City, whose names appear on the preceding tax roll of said City of the County of Gallatin, the following question: Shall the City of Bozeman, Montana, grant to The Montana Power Company, a corporation, its successors and assigns, the right, privilege and franchise for the full period of fifty (50) years, and thereafter until and unless otherwise provided by ordinance, to construct, equip, lay, maintain, and operate in, under, upon, over and across the streets, avenues, alleys, highways, bridges, easements and other public places in the City of Bozeman, County of Gallatin, State of Montana, as now or hereafter constituted, mains, pipes, conduits, manholes, reducing and regulating stations and all other appurtenances and accessories for the purpose of transporting, conveying, distributing, supplying and selling natural gas or artificial gas, or a mixture of natural and artificial gas for light, heat, power and other purposes at rates fixed and allowed by the Public Service Co~ssion of Montana. I Section 2. That the Clerk of the City Commission of said City of Bozeman, Gallatin County, Montana, be authorized to pubLish and post the necessary notices in accordance with the laws of the State of Montana, and have printed neoessary ballots to be used at suoh elections. Section 3. That the Clerk of the City Commission be authorized to arrange for judging at the voting places and do all other things necessary for the hold- ing of such election, in accordance with the laws of Montana.
