Commission Memorandum
REPORT TO: Honorable Mayor and City Commission
FROM: Aimee Brunckhorst, Deputy City Clerk / Citizen Advisory Coordinator Stacy Ulmen CMC, City Clerk
SUBJECT: (Re) Appointments to the Parking Commission
MEETING DATE: June 23, 2014 MEETING TYPE: Action
RECOMMENDED MOTION: I move to confirm the Mayoral appointments of [up to two applicants] to the Parking Commission. BACKGROUND: Two members of the Parking Commission have terms expiring June 30th, 2014 and both
have re-applied and there is one new applicant.
The Bozeman Parking Commission is responsible for managing and regulating public parking in the City's Parking Districts to best serve the needs of its customers: businesses, residents, employees, and visitors. The public parking garage in the city center is also under their authority.
The Parking Commission was created under Section 7-14-46, M.C.A., and Commission Resolution No. 1676,
adopted by the City Commission on May 8, 1974, as amended by Commission Resolution No. 1839, adopted by the City Commission on November 24, 1976, and Commission Resolution No. 3803, adopted by the City Commission on June 6, 2005.
The Parking Commission is a seven-member administrative board and also advises the Commission regarding
parking and fines in the "B-3" zoned area of the city. Under statutory provisions, members of the board are appointed by the Mayor, with the approval of the Commission, to staggered four-year terms. In the past, every effort has been made to appoint business people who have been assessed for SID No. 565, which provided the
funding for the four off-street parking lots over which the Parking Commission has control.
The Parking Commission has two expiring terms with two re-applying applicants and one new applicant. Re-applying Applicants: New Applicant: Ben Lloyd Russ Hart
Chris Naumann
ALTERNATIVES: As suggested by the City Commission. Attachments: Board Applications

As with any city, parking presents possibly the most visible challenge, particularly in the

with government commissions and boards as an attorney and an interested citizen. I look forward
to the opportunity to serve this community and I thank you for considering me.
