HomeMy WebLinkAbout26 - 05-07-2007_Habitat for Humanity of Gallatin County’s request _26 Commission Memorandum REPORT TO: Honorable Mayor and City Commission FROM: Brit Fontenot, City Clerk Chris Kukulski, City Manager SUBJECT: Habitat for Humanity of Gallatin County’s request for funding assistance in the amount of $84,000 from the City of Bozeman for the purchase of three lots in the City of Bozeman ($60,000) and associated impact fees ($24,000) MEETING DATE: May 7, 2007 RECOMMENDATION: Listen to the presentation by Jennifer Frank, Executive Director of Habitat for Humanity of Gallatin County. After Commission discussion determine whether to grant the funding request. BACKGROUND: The Commission has shown a commitment to affordable homeownership in Bozeman. Habitat for Humanity of Gallatin County’s primary impediment to the construction of affordable homes is affordable land. This dedication of funds will aid Habitat for Humanity in overcoming this obstacle. FISCAL EFFECTS: If approved, the funds distributed to Habitat for Humanity of Gallatin County would be taken from the two (2) mils designated by the City for affordable housing, in the Community Housing Fund. The balance of the fund is currently $140,020. ALTERNATIVES: As suggested by the Commission.
