Kukulski, City Manager SUBJECT: Mayoral Appointment of William Quinn as County Representative to the City Planning Board MEETING DATE: February 5, 2007 BACKGROUND: City Planning Board Appointment On January 3, 2007, the Gallatin County Commission recommended the appointment of William Quinn to fill the vacancy as County Representative to the Bozeman City Planning Board, with a term to expire on January 31, 2008. The Commission adopted Ordinance No. 1494 creating the City Planning Board to replace the City- County Planning Board, effective July 27, 1999. Subsequently, Ordinance No. 1508 was adopted, and that ordinance provides that members be appointed to two-year terms as follows: (1) one member of the City Commission, (2) three members appointed by the City Commission, (3) one County representative appointed by the Mayor upon recommendation from the County Commission, and (4) four citizen members appointed by the Mayor. All City appointees must reside within city limits. The Board is advisory to the Commission on major planning applications and makes the final decision on certain types of applications. RECOMMENDATION: Mayor appoint William Quinn, County Representative, to the City Planning Board. ALTERNATIVES: As suggested by the City Commission.
