HomeMy WebLinkAboutH1 Lower Yards 9 s ay y° Commission Memorandum REPORT TO: Honorable Mayor and City Commission FROM: Debbie Arkell, Director of Public Services Chris Kukulski, City Manager SUBJECT: Rouse Avenue Lower Storage Yards tise Replacement Cost Estimate MEETING DATE: November 6, 2006 BACKGROUND: On October 16, 2006, you were provided with a memo that outlined the previous use of the subject property as the City's sewage treatment plant and current uses of the site, and staff was directed to bring back suggestions of where these uses could be relocated and the estimated cost of the relocation. I asked the users of the facility to provide me with estimates, which are attached to this memo. Based on the information provided to you by James Goehrung for your November 6, 2006 meeting, the only two pieces of City-owned property identified that would be suitable for these operations are the Story Mill Landfill and Mandeville Farm. Each parcel would need off-site improvements, and estimates of those costs have not been calculated. RECOMMENDATION: Review information, and use it in a future decision on whether to sell the existing 8-acre Rouse Avenue site. FISCAL EFFECTS: Per the attached summary, an estimated $1,730,810 would be needed to replace the existing facilities located at the Rouse Avenue Lower Storage Yard. Estimated costs of off-site improvements have not been calculated. ALTERNATIVES: As suggested by the City Commission. Respectfully submitted, Debbie Arkell, Director of Public 'ervices Chris A.
