DID YOU KNOW …… the Forestry Division sponsors a Cost Share Tree Planting program in April which helps residents by sharing the cost of planting trees in the public right-of-way. daily services, everything from sweeping and plowing streets, to garbage collection, to reading water meters, are provided to the community by the Department of Public Service. ENGINEERING: Establishes standards for the construction and maintenance of the City’s infrastructure. the Wastewater Treatment Plant utilizes living microorganisms to biologically decompose & purify the wastes it receives from our community FORESTRY: Cares for Bozeman’s urban forest. They prune trees, monitor for disease and insects, and remove and replace dead and dying trees on public right-of-way. you can recycle oil & antifreeze at the City Shops year round. the staff of the Water/Sewer Department is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week, to respond to all water and sewer emergencies. SIGNS & SIGNALS: Maintain over 40 traffic signals and over 600 stop signs, they paint over 13 miles of yellow curb and stripe over 25 lane miles. the City of Bozeman has been supplying water to city residents since 1899. the Engineering Dept. handles weed control, traffic studies and sidewalk repair & snow removal. SOLID WASTE: Collection service is offered to all city residents and commercial business; Disposal maintains the landfill, city residents can dispose of household trash and recyclable materials for a fee at the landfill. the City Landfill has broken ground for a hazardous waste drop off site that is scheduled to open in November. STREETS: Maintains Bozeman’s streets and alleys by filling potholes, repairing curbs, building new streets, and plowing snow from streets. the City’s water supply comes from Lyman Creek, Sourdough Creek and Hyalite Creek & Reservoir. VEHICLE MAINTENANCE: Three mechanics service and repair over 400 pieces of City equipment. WATER/SEWER: Responsible for conveying potable water through water mains, they are also responsible for miles of wastewater collection mains from the property connection to the Wastewater Treatment Plant. WATER TREATMENT PLANT: Provides citizens of Bozeman with a safe and dependable supply of drinking water. WASTEWATER TREATMENT PLANT: Is an efficient, clean, and well-operated facility that uses advanced technology to process domestic and industrial wastewater. the Street Dept. crew enters the Bozeman Creek to chop ice in the winter to prevent flooding.
