Commission Memorandum
REPORT TO: Honorable Mayor and City Commission
FROM: Ron Dingman, Park and Recreation superintendent
Chris Kukulski, City Manager
SUBJECT: McLeod Park
MEETING DATE: October 9, 2006
BACKGROUND: McLeod Park is a 7.74 acre natural park owned by Gallatin County. It is
situated east of Sour Dough Creek Subdivision and at the south end of Sundance Drive. Since it
is connected to Tuckerman and Gardner Parks, a master plan was developed by the City of
Bozeman which included all three of these parks. Neither entity has been maintaining McLeod
Park on a regular basis although the City’s trail system has been established through it and the
City has occasionally applied herbicide to control noxious weeds. The Gallatin County
Commission is voting to provide a quit claim deed in order to turn the ownership of the park over
to the City of Bozeman.
RECOMMENDATION: Accept McLeod Park as a City Park.
FISCAL EFFECTS: Some noxious weed management will required
ALTERNATIVES: As suggested by the City Commission.
Respectfully submitted,
