Kukulski, City Manager SUBJECT: Library Board of Trustees Appointments MEETING DATE: July 24, 2006 BACKGROUND: The Library Board of Trustees is created under Section 22-1-308 M.C.A., and Section 2.56-010 of the Bozeman Municipal Code. Under Section 22-1-308(1), "… the Mayor, with the advice and consent of the city council or City Commissioners, shall appoint a Board of Trustees for the City Library …" and under Section 22-1-308(4), "... annually thereafter, there shall be appointed before July 1 of each year ... for a 5-year term, ... Trustees shall serve no more than two full terms in succession." Appointees serve five-year terms. No residency requirements are contained in either the State statutes or the City code. Under State statutes, this Board is administrative. As of June 30, 2006 the term of Ron Farmer has expired leaving an opening. Re-Applying: Ron Farmer RECOMMENDATION: Make appointments to fill vacancies. ALTERNATIVES: As suggested by the City Commission.
