Kukulski, City Manager SUBJECT: Design Review Board Appointments MEETING DATE: July 24, 2006 BACKGROUND: The Design Review Board was created under Section 18.62 of the Bozeman Municipal Code. Members are appointed to staggered two-year terms. It is charged with the design review of certain plans and proposals and should be comprised of six professional and two non-professional members. Professional members should be degreed in their respective disciplines and/or otherwise licensed or certified by their respective professional authorities. They shall include: 4 architects, 1 architectural historian, 1 landscape architect/designer, and 2 non-professional members. At least one of the professional members should have a demonstrated expertise in urban design. The non-professional members should have an interest in, or knowledge of, architecture, urban design, or historic preservation. No member should serve as a member of the City Planning Board and the Zoning Commission concurrently. The Board is generally advisory to the City Planning Board and the City Commission, although it does make the final decisions on some minor applications. As of June 30, 2006 the terms of Scott Hedglin, Brian Krueger, Bill Rea, Dawn M. Smith, and Elissa Ann Zavora have expired leaving five openings. Re-Applying: Bill Rea (architect) Scott Hedglin (architect) Elissa Ann Zavora (landscape architect) New Applicants: Walter Banziger (architect) Joe Batcheller (non-professional) Sharyn Sears (non-professional) RECOMMENDATION: Make appointments to fill vacancies - 2 architects, 1 landscape architect/designer, 1 architectural historian, and 1 non-professional.
