HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution 1020 Election and amount of Bonds for City Hall and Shop Building 28 RESOLUTION NO. 1020 RESOLUTION DETERMINING SUFFICIENCY OF PETITION FOR CITY HALL AND SHOP BUILDING BONDS, FIXING THE EXACT AMOUNT OF BONDS TO BE ISSUED AND CALLING AN ELECTION FOR THE PURPOSE OF VOTING ON THE ISSUANCE OF SUCH BONDS BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF BOZEMAN, MONTANA, I AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1: It is hereby found and determined that a petition in 58 counterparts, each counterpart having attached the]~eto the affidavit of the circu!ator thereof, was filed with the Clerk of the Commission on June 21, 1961; that said petition requests that an election be held and there be submitted at such election the questions of issuing bonds for the fOllowing purposes: (I) to acqulre the site for and erect, furnish and equip a city hall building to house city administrative offices and the police and fire departments, the amount of bonds necessary to be issued for this purpose be1ng estimated at $781,938, (2 ) to acquire the site for and erect, furnish and equip a shop building for the storage and maintenance of vehicles and equipment of the oi ty water and street departments, the amount of bonds necessary to be issued for this pur- pose being estimated at $166,718, and (3) to erect, furnish and equip a Shop building for the storage and maintenance of venicles and equipment of the city park and cemetary departments, the amount of bonds necessary to be issued for this purpose being estimated at $37,365. tha t said pe ti tion is in proper form and bears thl:\ "quiel te number of signatures of qualified petitioners, being signed by 1033 registered electors whose names appear upon the last completed assessment roll for I state and county taxes, as taxpayers within the City of Bozeman; tha t the total number of persons who are such taxpayer-electors according to said roll is 4077 and therefore the petition has been signed by more than 20% of the total number of taxpayer-electors whose names appear upon said roll; and that said petition is now on f1le in the office of the Clerk of the City 'Commiss1on. SECTION 2: An election is hereby called and directed to be held in and for the City on Tuesday, the 29th day of Augu.st, 1961, in the various precincts and at the polling places as set forth in the notioe of election hereinafter contained, between the hours of 8:00 o'clock A.M. and 8:00 o'clock P.M., for the purpose ov voting on the questions of issuing City Hail and Shop Building Bonds. Said elect10n shall be held ooncidentally with the regular City pr1maty election on sald day, and the judges and clerks of said primary election shall act as the judges and clerks of said bond election. SECTION 3: At said election all, but only, the duly registered and qualified electors of the City whose names appear upon the last preoeding assessment roll for state and county taxes as taxpayers upon property within the City, shall be anti tied to vote. The Clerk 'Dr theCommlss1on is hereby authorized and directed to give notice forthwith to the County Clerk of the call of said elect1on. The County Clerk shall, after giving due notice of closing of the registration books, prepare printed lists of the registered voters entitled to vote at said election, and shall prepare precinct registers for such election for each precinct of the City in the form and manner required by law. SECTION 4: The purposes for which said bonds are proposed to be issued and the exact amount of bonds to be issued for each purpose shaLl be as set forth in the form of ballot hereinaftelr prescribed. The number I of years through which such bonds are to be paid shall be twenty (20) years. SECTION 5: The Clerk of the Commission is hereby authorized and directed to give notice of the call and holding of said election by publi- cation, once each week for a period of not less than Two (2) consecutive weeks immedlatlay preceding the date for holding said election, one of such publications to be upon the Last day upon which such newspaper is issued before the election, in the Bozeman Daily Chronicle, published at Bozeman, Montana, and by causing notice to be posted in at least three (3) of the most public places in each voting precinct in the City at least ten (10) days prior to the date of said election, which notice so published and posted shall read substantially as follows: "- - .-. 29 NOTICE OF ELECTION CITY OF BOZEMAN, MONTANA NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that on Tuesday, the 2~th day of August, 1961, an election will be held in and for the City of Bozeman, Montana, for the purpose of voting on the questions of issuing the bonds of the City of Bozeman for the following purposes and in the f'ollowing amounts: I (1) f'or the purpose of acquiring the site f'or and erecting, furnishing and equipping a city ha~l building to house city administrative offices and police and f'ire depart- ments in the amount of $781,928.UO (2 ) for the purpose of acquiring the site for and erecting, fur- nishing and equipping a ShOp building for the storage and maintenance of vehicles and equipment of' the city water and street departments in the amount of $166,718.UO (3) f'or the purpose of erecting, furnishing and equipping a ShOP building for the storage and maintenance of vehicles and equipment of the city park and cemetery departments in the amount of $37,365.UO. SECTION 7: The Clerk of the Commission is authorized and directed to furnish to the judges of election all other necessary and vonvenlent facili- ties and supplies for said election and the returns thereof. Said election shall be conducted and the returns made in the same manner as other city elections.
