Zoning in my opinion is potentially the single most important factor in determining
the character of a city. The height restrictions, density, and functions of buildings
within different regions is clearly vital to properly organizing a city and to foster
community. Coming from Colorado Springs, Portland Oregon, and now Bozeman I
can recognize how zoning has influenced the fabric of the various urban strategies

To Whom It May Concern:
I am pleased to be writing this letter of recommendation for Adam Fruh. Adam served as
a student representative on the City of Bozeman Recreation and Parks Advisory Board
from December 2007 through September 2009.
During this time Adam was an active contributor to our city. He participated on the
board by getting involved in landscaping work at the Beall Park Recreation Center—not
just conceptually, but with a shovel and a wheelbarrow.
Adam also volunteered to serve as secretary for the Recreation and Parks Advisory Board
when our long-time secretary gave up the task. This experience gave him a chance to see
from another perspective how a board operates. As current chair of this board, I was
pleased with his willingness to make a further contribution.
I believe young people like Adam are the future for our cities and by extension for our
society. His willingness to work and be involved are assets that will stand him, as well as
his prospective employers, in good stead.
Although I have only known Adam for a short time, I feel he's a good bet and that he
deserves your full consideration.
Sincerely yours,
Bill VandenBos

To whom it may concern:
I have known Adam Fruh for the several years he served on the Recreation and Parks Advisory Board
for the City of Bozeman. I was chair of that board for most of his tenure there. I also chaired that
board's Subdivision Review Committee on which Adam served.
Adam always proved to be intelligent, eager, intellectually curious, and hard working. He was never
afraid to ask questions to get a better understanding of the work at hand. Always a willing and
enthusiastic participant,he volunteered to take the board minutes and did a stellar job of it. He
volunteered to assist the Recreation Department Superintendent install landscaping at the new
Recreation Center and worked for hours in the rain to get it done. No job was too big or too messy.
Adam frequently requested that our subdivision review meetings be held on-site,rather than at the
planning department offices, so we could get a better feel for the project than we would get just looking
at a map. As a result,we all wound up working a little harder and doing a better job.
I am very impressed with any young person who is willing to volunteer their time to contribute to their
community, and Adam did so with more energy and enthusiasm than any I have worked with on the
board. I gladly offer my highest personal recommendation for Adam Fruh.
Sincerely,
Sandy Dodge
